Up until now, BlueLaguna.net and RealityLapse.com have been using the same servers. However, I’ll be moving some of the RealityLapse servers to a new network so I decided this would be a good opportunity to put all BlueLaguna.net downloads on their own separate server. On the surface, this really won’t affect BlueLaguna.net users at all initially since some of the servers will be in the same datacenter. However, in the near future I plan to order a server in Europe and Asia to better accomodate users in those regions. It also seems appropriate to change the naming convention for the BlueLaguna.net servers. Originally, they were all named after ancient gods so I will be returning to doing so. The Lamda server will be renamed to Thor.
RealityLapse.com users on the other hand may experience brief service interruptions do to DNS changes. Whenever a host name (such as omikron.realitylapse.com) changes to a new ip address, it can take a while for some internet providers to recognize the change. Most companies recognize the change within a few hours. Some however may take up to two days. Therefore I will only be switching on server at a time, starting with Omikron.
